To register, please call (937) 847-8787. Kayak, paddle and PFD provided or bring your own equipment. Learn the basics about kayaks, spending part of the class on the water. (Weather permitting). Learn about paddling etiquette, proper safety equipment and getting started. Learn the principles of paddling, various strokes, and maneuvers. Dress to get wet. These classes are held on area ponds. Specific location will be disclosed to registrants.

Kettering Recreation Complex
Fun in the Sun Kids Triathlon
9:00 AM, Registration Fee $30 This fun family event includes a swim, bike and run. It is designed to be non-competitive, and introduce kids ages 5-14 to the sport of triathlon. The kids start in the 25 meter pool, then ride through the scenic-nearby park area, and finish with the run. Distances are age appropriate. Portion of the proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer's Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, United Rehabilitation Services and South Community. 9:00 AM - Noon ROUTE: Young's Jersey Dairy (in Yellow Springs) to Jamestown and back, lunch provided - 54 miles. Rally rides are free to all registered Young's riders, otherwise $5 charge for the ride. Rally rides are a great way to get ready for the big ride, especially if you aren’t used to going on long distance rides. Rally Rides are a way to meet some of the other riders. Each rally ride is $5.00 - which is credited to your fundraising account. Fully supported with food and beverages.

Green Trails Cycling Classic

Register now for the Greene Trails Cycling Classic! This family-oriented bicycling event will be held on July 15 - 18, 2010. If you can’t make it for all four days, join us for the ones you can make. All rides will begin and end at the event campgrounds at the Fairground Recreation Center in Xenia, Ohio. This offers the cyclists the opportunity to ride as many miles as they prefer and at their own pace. So come out and enjoy the nationally recognized and award-winning trails as well as off-trail routes for the more adventurous.

We've experienced an unusual season of high river flows on the Great Miami River this summer, therefore we have changed our river races into a "Christmas in July" paddle float. Enjoy a scenic river trip from West Carrollton to Miamisburg on Saturday, July 17th. It's a parade on the river so feel free to decorate your watercraft. Get ready for the Best in Dayton Series #5 at Blue Heron DGC (Englewood MetroPark) on the 17th of July. Park setting under mature trees next to lake. Dense forest with vast wildlife, Fly18 tee-pads and DisCatcher baskets. Installed in 2008. Take I-70 to the Englewood/Dayton exit (exit #29). Go north off the ramp onto Main St. - Drive one mile to the top of the hill past Thunderbowl Lanes. Take a right onto National Rd. (Route 40). Drive over the dam and take a left into Englewood MetroPark. Follow the road until it forks but continue straight. At the stop sign take a left and park next to the turn around circle. Hole #1 teepad is on the west side of the road next to the turn around.

Tour d'Burg 6th Annual Race

Miamisburg has again been chosen to be the site of this year’s Ohio State Cycling Championships. Miamisburg’s 6th Annual TOUR d’BURG, sponsored by Kettering Medical Center -- Sycamore, will be held on Sunday, July 18, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM in historic downtown Miamisburg, just 3 miles west of the Dayton Mall on Route 725. This event is free and open to the public with free parking. Top amateur and professional level men and women Criterium racers will compete in USA Cycling sanctioned races in historic downtown Miamisburg, Ohio. This family-friendly event features a food court, a kids’ parade plus other activities geared to children of all ages.

Mark your calendars. Alan Gearhart of Fine Woodworks in Belpre Ohio will display his beautiful hand-built custom wood strip canoes and kayaks on our patio. One of his boats was the winner in the 2009 Georgetown South Carolina Wooden Boat Show. These boats are built to be paddled, however they are each one-of-a-kind works of art. Alan is a Master Craftsman with a love for paddling. "I believe that quality boat building is almost a lost art... and the next generation needs to see real craftsmanship. That is why I build canoes and kayaks from wood strips." Join us and meet Alan!

Young's Ice Cream
8th Annual Charity Bike Tour
A two day or one day bike ride. Prizes for top fundraisers, limited edition cycling jersey, training rally rides. Proceeds benefit these local charities - Alzheimer's Associations, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton and South Community Behavioral Healthcare.
2-Day Ride begins Saturday, July 24th at 8:00 AM

Check-in and registration opens at 7am at the picnic shelters at Young’s Jersey Dairy, located between The Dairy Store and Udders & Putters. Please arrive at least 45 minutes early to allow time for registration and breakfast so we can all start at the same time. A continental breakfast will be available. If you are parking your car overnight, please unload at the picnic shelter then park across the road.
1-Day Ride begins Sunday, July 25 at 10 AM
28 and 56 mile ride options, Registration Fee: $25
Registration starting at 9 AM. Riders will return to the picnic shelter area at the end of their ride for lunch and ice cream. Lunch (and ice cream!) will be served at the return to Young's.

The Park District provides everything you need for a fantastic fun-filled night out. The park will be alive with activities such as soccer, giant games, a bounce house for the kids, and more! Park District Passport to Fishing instructors are eager to help you catch a fish. So, bring your fishing pole! Five Rivers MetroParks will be at the event with games, and Kettering Tennis Center/Quail Run Racquet Club tennis pros will be on hand to give free tennis instruction (racquets provided).
